The American Portuguese Biomedical Research Fund (APBRF)
The American Portuguese Biomedical Research Fund is a nationally recognized 501(c)3 nonprofit, with all related tax benefits, that supports Biomedical Research between the United States of America and Portugal, and supports Early Career Development for young researchers.
Our foundation prides itself on funding “faces not masks”. Our Scholarship recipients, which are the heart and soul of APBRF, have trained in the best schools around the world, and are today leaders at top Universities including UCLA, Yale, Harvard, Columbia, and Cornell. Our donors typically support a young researcher through a dedicated Scholarship, or contribute to developing one of our Research Programs. Currently APBRF has programs in Cancer and Neuroscience.
APBRF is a small but ambitions nonprofit that is constantly seeking to make a difference, and helps young minds pursue their dreams.
Our donors typically support a young researcher through a named Scholarship (in their name or the name of their relatives), or contribute to developing one of our Research Programs. Currently APBRF has programs in Cancer and Neuroscience.
The philosophy of funding “faces” has been respected and continued at the APBRF, and a policy of “match funding” has been implemented since 2002.
The logo, designed by the Portuguese painter Miguel Horta, is based on pictures from DNA recombinant technology, serving as a modern symbol of cooperation between the two countries.
